GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 124631
gnucash uses gconfd-1 not gconfd-2
Last modified: 2018-06-29 20:38:09 UTC
I am using Gnucash 1.8.7 under Gentoo Linux 1.4. My system has both "gconfd-1" and "gconfd-2" installed. At a certain moment in time "gconfd-2" is already running (because I have started evolution, or whatever). When I then start gnucash, I get the following error: gtkhtml-ERROR **: gconf error: Failed to contact configuration server (a likely cause of this is that you have an existing configuration server (gconfd) running, but it isn't reachable from here - if you're logged in from two machines at once, you may need to enable TCP networking for ORBit) and the program aborts. If I manually startup gconfd-1 in a x-terminal and then start gnucash (without termination gconfd-2) the program runs.
1- Gnucash is a gnome-1.4 application, not a gnome-2 application... 2- It's GtkHTML that starts up gconfd, not Gnucash Therefore I am closing this bug because it is not a gnucash bug. The gnucash gnome-2 port should "fix" the problem by depending on gconf-2.
