Description Bernardo Silveira 2003-09-18 22:23:56 UTC
When I have the same user logged more than once, the epiphany window opens
in the first session who opened one epiphany, no matter which real session
asked for the browser.
For example: user bob logs in and opens one epiphany. User bob goes through
XDMCP, logs in again and open another epiphany. The epiphany will always
open on the first session.
I have a XDMCP server here that'll substitute Windows terminals, but I need
that epiphany opens in the right window, because everybody will use the
same user, just as in Windows.

Reporter: can you give more information? I'm unsure which of the two
following scenari you mean [from what I remember from our conversation
on irc, it might be the second one?]:

1) One user, multiple logins on different terminals:
User A logs in on terminal 1, starts epiphany. Later, he login in on
terminal 2 and starts epiphany.
Characteristics: shared bookmarks, session, history, cookies etc.
This is essentially bug 112779.

2) Multiple users, multiple logins on different terminals:
User 1 logs in as "user" on terminal 1, starts epiphany. User 2 logs
in as "user" on terminal 2, starts epiphany.
In this scenario, bookmarks/session/history/etc should not be shared,
and for performance reasons alone, the two users should be given
separate epiphany processes.
This is how I remember it from our conversation on irc... why not just
have different login names for the different users?

3) Something entirely different :)

The situation is:

One user, using a remote GDM login, opens one session with user
"guest". The other one, from another place, accessing the same remote
GDM login, using the same "guest" account, logs in. Then, the first
one opens one epiphany window (using the menu, whatsoever). Later the
second user opens another epiphany window, but this goes to the first
user display instead of opening in his display.

The reason for not using multiple users is that it would cause a
administrative problem, since everybody would have to create a new
account in the lab even only using the station once in their lives.
