Old ACE 1.x unpacker is opensource. Newer ACE is freeware. ACE developer responds to e-mails and I got a feeling that he fears opensourcing UnACE 2.x, but has no objections to its wider support.

According to http://fileroller.sourceforge.net/features.html, file-roller supports StuffIT (.SIT) archives. Only ACE is missing to close this bug.
Is possible wrap closed source unace or exists license problems?

UNACE is available, the same as UNRAR No need for adding unace sources Just to use it as an external program Why not?
ace support is in CVS now
