Thanks for the bug report. Without a stack trace from the crash it's
very hard to determine what caused the crash. Please see
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/getting-traces.cgi for more information
about getting a useful stack trace.

What version of libgnome do you have installed?

Have you tried systematically disabling plugins (in particular, the
spell checker plugin) to see if you can avert the crash?

Also, the more obvious question, what version of gedit do you have
installed? There are 2 ports available for FreeBSD. In the official
ports tree you will find 2.2.2. However, the MarcusCom repo is up to
2.3.3 (and probably 2.3.5 within 24-48 hours). You can get that here:
http://www.marcuscom.com:8080/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/ports/editors/gedit2/

Feel free to stop by #freebsd-gnome on FreeNode IRC (irc.freenode.net)
for more real-time help. My nick there is 'irotas'.

Probably this is a duplicate of bug #110280.
