The GNU coding guidelines mandates the use of American English in original
messages. This is also to the best of my knowledge a requirement for GNOME
applications. So please use American English spellings:

Not "colour", but instead "color"

This facilitates the work of translators a lot, since translators will not
have to translate from all possible variants of spellings, which is a
requirement for efficient use of translation databases and the like. This
is mentioned on
http://developer.gnome.org/doc/tutorials/gnome-i18n/developer.html#language.

Right now, Dia is a horrible mix of British and American English spellings:
