Gnome 2.2: Localized dekstop shortcut name becomes 'No name' after next login
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Environment: Gnome 2.2 1. Login into any of the locale 2. Create a launcher (a "shortcut") on the desktop and give it a name (either - Name or Generic name) 3. Then log out and log in to another locale, the launcher caption is 'No name'.
I've "fixed" this in the HEAD branch on CVS. However it is tough to fix completely correctly. If the user keeps switching languages and editting the names of the icon, the edits will only affect that language. the panel expects that what the user is putting in is in the current language. That's really tough to change right now, and perhaps it is ok. What I did in cvs is that on create I also set the "C" locale entries to whatever the user typed in for the three translatable fields. That should be a "good enough" solution. So it solves your problem, though it doesn't solve the deeper problem (which may not really be a problem). I don't think people switch languages all that often.
