GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 117907
Crash at startup complains about fonts
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Running the epiphany gives the following output bash-2.05$ gnome-terminal ** (gnome-terminal:6284): WARNING **: --- you're entering a whole world of pain --- bash-2.05$ epiphany ** (epiphany-bin:6290): WARNING **: --- you're entering a whole world of pain --- ** (epiphany-bin:6290): WARNING **: Cannot open font file for font Bitstream Vera Sans 10 The program 'epiphany-bin' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'RenderBadPicture (invalid Picture parameter)'. (Details: serial 741 error_code 163 request_code 151 minor_code 8) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) A window shows up for just 0.5 seconds and then crashes. I've tried using bug-buddy to fail and file a bug but this failed
Looks like a setup problem on your box. Maybe this can help you: http://www.geocrawler.com/archives/3/94/2003/4/50/10423106/ Anyway if it's a bug, it's an Xft bug.
I've looked at the fonts.conf file and do see the correct fonts in there. Shall I reopen this bug and change the product to xft or open a new bug for xft.
I dont think Xft product is on bugzilla.gnome.org.
