GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 117505
topborder constraint for larger-than-screen windows
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
metacity-2.5.2 on mandrake cooker (9.2) Description of Problem: Moving windows up offscreen with Alt+LMB should at least work for too large windows. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. use low resolution (=< 800x600) 2. open any app that produces a window larger than that (eg galeon preferences) 3. try to move the window up with Alt+LMB Actual Results: upper desktop border impenetrable Expected Results: it should at least be possible to move the window up offscreen until lower window border is visible. Additional Information: As I understand this http://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2002-October/msg00281.html the current behaviour qualifies as a bug. However, I'd like to add a feature request to that. Right now I'm disabling the topborder constraint by patching the sources (basically just making the addition a substraction for nw_y). I'd love to have a runtime switch to disable the default behaviour. Since I understand that this wouldn't be easy to implement, it would be great to have a configure option to select behaviour before compiling.
