GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 115471
Return of the son of the bride of string issues

The last batch. That is not to say there aren't plenty more I have failed to notice. #:src/cut-n-paste-code/goffice/graph/plugins/plot_pie/gog-pie-prefs.glade.h:7 msgid "_Vary colours by slice" -- Should be "colors", as that is the spelling used otherwise. --- #: src/dialogs/cell-format.glade.h:110 msgid "min <= val <= max (between)" -- Should be "min < val < max", or it won't be consistent with the others in this group. --- #: src/dialogs/dialog-paste-special.c:49 msgid "Add " -- No space after "Add" --- #: src/dialogs/search-replace.glade.h:33 src/dialogs/search.glade.h:27 msgid "The search text is taken literal" -- "... taken literally" --- #: src/file.c:551 msgid "" "You can turn this safety feature off by editing appropriate plugin.xml file." -- "... by editing the appropriate ..." --- #: src/format-template.c:493 msgid "Invalid xml file. Oh, yeah? #: src/sheet-style.c:446 msgid "" "This is a special version of Gnumeric. It has been compiled\n" "with support for a very large number of rows. Access to the\n" "column named TRUE may conflict with the constant of the same\n" "name. Expect weirdness." -- It talks about support for a large number of rows, but the worry is about column names. #:src/cut-n-paste-code/goffice/graph/plugins/plot_pie/gog-pie-prefs.glade.h:7 msgid "_Vary colours by slice" -- Should be "colors", as that is the spelling used otherwise. cut-n-paste-code, I don't know where it got cut an pasted from but we can't change those files here. ------------------------------------------------------------------- #: src/dialogs/cell-format.glade.h:110 msgid "min <= val <= max (between)" -- Should be "min < val < max", or it won't be consistent with the others in this group. how would it be more consistent? In any case this one is quite important the way it is (including the endpoints). ------------------------------------------------------------------- #: src/main-application.c:112 msgid "" "Thank you for using Gnumeric!\n" "\n" "The version of Gnumeric you are using is quite old\n" "by now. #: src/dialogs/cell-format.glade.h:110 msgid "min <= val <= max (between)" -- Should be "min < val < max", or it won't be consistent with the others in this group. how would it be more consistent? In any case this one is quite important the way it is (including the endpoints). Well, if you look at the definition of "not-between" (same file, line 114): #: src/dialogs/cell-format.glade.h:114 msgid "val <= min || max <= val (not between)" If val == max, for example, it is both between and not between at the same time. I just thought it would have been more consistent to have these two define mutually disjoint sets. --- For www.gnumeric. org, I just thought it may not be a good idea to direct people to a non-existant site.
=========================== msgid "min <= val <= max (between)" -- Should be "min < val < max", or it won't be consistent with the others in this group. =========================== I'd recommend not to arbitrarily change mathematical definition to match the words, that will be misleading for every gnumeric user. Instead, words can be chosen to more accurately describe it. I mean something like: min <= val <= max (between, endpoint inclusive) val <= min || max <= val (not between, endpoint inclusive) In the end, it's the mathematical definition that presents the most accurate info, not the words.
for www.gnumeric.org, I think we can replace it with http://www.gnome.org/projects/gnumeric/ ?
Yes. That url is the real home of www.gnumeric.org which due to a long running set of confusions has been lost for a few months. Hopefully it will return soon.
