GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 115238
first four shapes in flowchart have vague names, request addition or alternative
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
The first four shapes in the flowchart shapes have vague/generic names. Perhaps these can be extended/replaced with the proper function of these shapes for flowcharts. in stead of: A box with text inside use the string: Process (perhaps split this into a nonsquare retangular box for Process and a square box for Auxiliary Operation, or make the string Process / Auxiliary Operation) in stead of: A parallelogram with text inside use the string: Input/Output in stead of: A diamond with text inside use the string: Decision in stead of: A ellips with text inside use the string: Connector There are also some other string that could use names which are more extensive in stead of: Terminal use the string: Terminal Interrupt There are also some shapes missing a 3D version of Punched Card which is called Card Deck and a version of Punched Card which is called Card File with on the top right corner an extra corner like (ASCII art): ___ _________ | / | | | | | | |_________| And an Offpage Connector is missing. More info on ISO Standard 1028 "Information Processing -- Flowchart Symbols" I've scanned in and can be found overhere (from 16th of June onwards) http://www.animus-imperat.com/pub/flow1.jpg http://www.animus-imperat.com/pub/flow2.jpg http://www.animus-imperat.com/pub/flow3.jpg I hope this all is usefull for the dia shapes.
If you could provide a patch (cvs diff -u attach to this report and add the PATCH keyword) it would be very helpful.
I'm fixing this bug myself and will be sending patch files real soon. Also .jpg files are finally available.
Created attachment 24616 [details] resolution for bug
Pander provided fix, see attachment and include it (after review) in the development tree.
This appears to be already fixed by : 2003-08-11 Lars Clausen <lrclause@cs.uiuc.edu> * sheets/Flowchart.sheet.in: Updated descriptions and the attached "thing" is not a di9ff as it is supposed to be. Anyway I've started the download - but stopped it after getting about half a meg (of binary junk - application/octet-stream ?) probably not useful anyway. Closing as invalid
