Description Reece Hart 2003-06-11 22:28:06 UTC
Package: gnome-panel
Severity: major
Version: GNOME2.2.2 2.2.2
os_details: Ximian, Inc.
Synopsis: gnome-panel segfaults on login, but then restarts fine
Bugzilla-Product: gnome-panel
Bugzilla-Component: Panel
BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.2.0.1)
Description:
Description of Problem:
I'm not using vertical panels, so I think this is NOT a duplicate of
94625
(unless that bug now applies to other panels as well).

Superficially, the bug is similar to that one: when I log in, I get a
segfault error. After acknowledging that error panel starts up fine
(presumably restarted from saved session).

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Unkonwn; it only happens on login.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
gnome-panel crashes on login (only)

Expected Results:
it'd be nice if I didn't have to acknowledge the segv...

How often does this happen?
3/3 logins

Additional Information:
- RH 9 w/Ximian desktop 2 (xd2).114975
- nautilus has a very similar bug which may be caused by the same
underlying problem (bug 114975).

Quoting Andrew Sobala from bug 109451:

This is a gnome-vfs bug.

If you can reproduce this, on a standard install of Red Hat Linux 9,
please install the following RPMs and report the backtrace into bug
111147 (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=111147). This will
help us track down the problem.

http://people.redhat.com/alexl/RPMS/fam-debuginfo-2.6.8-9.i386.rpm
http://people.redhat.com/alexl/RPMS/gnome-vfs2-debuginfo-2.2.2-4.i386.rpm

Note these RPMs are only for Red Hat Linux 9.
