This functionality is not useful for a Movie player. If you want a

I really think it should be fine. I usually show videos on a big 
screen at computer parties and, believe me, showing everytime at the 
same order is annoying.

I added a totem-random.pl file that should enable you to play movies,
shuffled.

  I understand the need not to complicate the interface but it seems
that having a little checkbox next to the repeat checkbox for shuffle
would be a great addition.
