GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 111896
Pressing tab in the address bar should jump to the first autocompleted address
Last modified: 2015-10-24 10:01:46 UTC
When you're typing in the address bar, you can press down to jump to the first autocompleted entry and to cycle through them all. you should be able to use tab to do the same thing (and shift-tab to go in reverse.
notabug. tab autocompletion breaks a11y, and hence will not be included in epiphany at least for now. the new egg_combo may have a configuration option to enable/disable tab auto completion globally and we would follow that. marco: related to this clicking tab should tab out of the entry to the next toolbar item (go by default) but doesn't any ideas on this?

How can I find more out about the accessibility issue related to this bug? What is the correct mailing list to discuss this bug/feature? I'm unsure whether I should post to epiphany's list, gnome usability list, gnome accessibility list. My primary concern is not being able to move between entries in the dropdown, via keyboard, without moving my hands away from the "home" position. i.e. I can hit the arrow key, but that means moving my hands away from the keyboard "home" position. It's funny how such a tiny thing can be so irritating. What I'm really after is a way to do this whether it be via: tab, shift+tab OR Ctrl+n, Ctrl+p
Couldn't this implemented as an extension so that people not needing the a11y features could use it?

A further comment to by comment #5 above. I recently discovered the gconf setting for emacs key bindings. <quote> If you are using the GNOME desktop, and you want to enable Emacs keybindings, you have to use gconf-editor to set /desktop/gnome/interface/gtk_key_theme to "Emacs". <endquote> Is there any reason why this setting couldn't make ctrl+n, ctrl+p, correspond to down and up?
