Description Patrick Griffin 2003-04-22 20:10:40 UTC
Package: nautilus
Severity: normal
Version: 2.2.1
Synopsis: can't rename while copying
Bugzilla-Product: nautilus
Bugzilla-Component: File and Folder Operations

Description:
Description of Problem:
While copying a file into a directory, can't rename other items in the
directory.
The edit box appears to flash up really quickly, then disappears as if
editing had finished. (tenth of a second elapsed, perhaps?)

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. copy a large file into a directory "dir"
2. while viewing contents of "dir", right click on an item and select
rename

Actual Results:
edit box pops up, then disappears almost instantly

Expected Results:
edit box pops up and stays until i hit enter

How often does this happen?
every time

Additional Information:
perhaps the screen updates to show the increasing file size are causing
a refresh that loses the edit box?

This seems to have been fixed in nautilus 2.4.0- at least, it works
fine here and for someone else in #bugs. Please reopen it if you can
still update it, griffinp.

I can duplicate in nautilus 2.4.0 (under Fedora Core 1). This bug is
not present in icon view but it is visible under list view. Note that
to get this, you have to try to rename the file before it is finished
being copied. Otherwise everything works fine (my test case was the
first iso image of Fedora...)

Forgot to add myself to cc list. Also, I'm going to confirm this bug.
