If we enter a split transaction, we have two modes to view it. One we can 
view it as a hyper link "split transaction" and view both the credit & 
debit of each transaction.
I expect there exits a third mode by which we can view the details of the 
split transactions too - a sort of intermediary between ledger & journal 
mode. 
We can appreciation the usefulness of this newly suggested mode when we 
have to submit the hardcopy (printout) of the relevant register/report 
that has split transaction before any authority. If we have the books in 
computer, we can show him the details by clicking the hyperlink. What 
could be done in a hard copy? We cannot be expected to remember all the 
split transactions that incurred in any year!
To summarize, a new view that is basically ledger mode but displays 
details/breakup of split transactions is required.
