GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 105838
application/ogg MIME Type
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
The MIME Type application/ogg has been registered with the IANA (see: http://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/application/) and awaits publication as an RFC (approved by the IESG, in the editor queue). I suggest application/x-ogg is replaced with application/ogg at each an every occurence in the mime-datas as it is now a proposed Internet Standard.
Do you know if there's anyone currently using application/x-ogg in their application registry entry outside of gnome-mime-data? We should probably add a new entry and prioritize it for detection but leave the old one intact?
I have submitted notices to RedHat (who have a modified version of the Apache MIME mapping) and Debian (who also have their own). None of them have yet altered anything. Apache are very conservative and does not add extension associations, but will probably add the type from IANA by script.
Debian have now added the new MIME type to their MIME Type mapping.
Adding myself to fix this in GStreamer when Gnome fixes it.
