I am having the same problem with Gnome 2.2 on Gentoo 1.4rc2. The
transparency worked properly for a while, now all the sudden it has
stopped working and my panel appears black, no matter what my
transparency setting is.

Havoc: how can we ask the original reporter if this still happen ?
This may have been fixed in 2.4...
Comment 5 Elijah Newren 2003-12-11 19:34:41 UTC
I experienced that same problem with a Red Hat beta (I think it was
the beta for RH8.0). I remember seeing it fixed in a later release
too. I'm closing.
