GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 101865
Non-standard shortcuts
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Currently gcalctool are some non-standard shortcuts (Ctrl-C to close the app), and some that are only available on Sun keyboards (Props, Copy, Help). There may be others that I don't know about :) Shortcuts should be HIG-compliant, e.g. Ctrl-Q should Quit the app, Ctrl-C should copy the selected text (or in this case, probably just the whole display if nothing is selected), Alt-Enter should open the Properties dialog, F1 should open the Help window. Ideally these commands should all appear on a menubar too, although gcalctool currently doesn't have one. There's a list of standard shortcuts here: http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gup/hig/draft_hig/userinput.html#standard-shortcuts
Thanks for the pointer to the list of standard shortcuts. Will rework the keyword shortcuts in the New Year.
This should be fixed now in v4.2.34 of gcalctool. The menubar sports standard menu items, with standard keyboard accelerators that now work. Each of the gcalctool buttons is keyboard navigable, and also has a keyboard equivalent. These keyboard equivalents are described in the tooltip help for each button, and also in the gcalctool manual pages. Calum, please let me know if you'd like me to adjust any of these. They hopefully make sense, although in some cases that's a little strained (as I attempt to provide uniqueness).
