Alphabatize gnome tasklist group menu popup
Last modified: 2005-01-28 14:43:59 UTC
When grouping is turned on for the tasklist, several tasks are displayed in a popup menu when one of the tasklist buttons is clicked. I would like this popup menu to be alphabatized. When developing code, I often have many xemacs windows open (12 right now), each with a different source file. Currently, they are listed in a randomish order (in reality, it's probably ordered by when I opened the windows). When I want to maximize one of my xemacs windows, I have to search through the list and find the one I want, and click on it. This is slow because the files are not listed in a useful order for searching. If they were alphatized in that list, I could find the particular window that I want much more quickly. For example, see http://graphics.lcs.mit.edu/~sumner/tmp/tasklist.jpg There's no ordering to all of those files, and it's hard to find one in the list. Thanks! Bob
Since this bug has been around a while and seems like a good enhancement to the gnome taskbar panel, I'm increasing its priority. Thanks! Bob
I don't think Urgent is correct. It may be a slightly annoying usability bug (in that predictability isn't as good as it could be), but it definitely doesn't block usage of a large part of the product.
