GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 100466
default currency in reports incorrectly chosen
Last modified: 2018-06-29 20:22:42 UTC
In a multi-currency setting: EUR and USD, with EUR the default currency set in Preferences->International. Ask for an expense report, it shows the USD expenses by default (getting the EUR ones is possible by choosing in the report options). In 1.6.6, GnuCash correctly uses EUR for the report if the default currency is EUR.
The default currency for a new report is derived from the current locale, not from the "default currency" option. What is your locale setting? If it is LANG=C, USD would be correct as default report currency. If it is LANG=fr_FR, EUR should be the default report currency (if not, it is a bug and you can certainly reopen this bug report). I think there were lengthy discussions on gnucash-devel on whether using 1. the locale, or 2. the account-default, or 3. a seperate preference for that. Even with a seperate preference for that this setting would still be a system- (more specifically user-) wide preference and not be file/book-dependent, which might still be not what users want. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 87729 ***
