Description Halton Huo 2009-09-03 02:31:37 UTC
This bug comes from http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=9790

Steps:
1. Enable Vino Server from System -> Preferences -> Desktop Sharing
2. Connect the server from another machine via vncviewer
3. Try to launch a terminal from the right-click menu

Expected result:
The terminal is launched locally and remotely
Actual result:
The terminal is launched locally but remote desktop does not refreshed
  The user should disconnect and
reconnect to the server, then can see the terminal is launched.

It is reproducible on OpenSolaris b122 and Ubuntu 9.10 with compiz enabled.

This is a known issue. Actually, an issue in xorg: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12255

A workaround for vino is: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=533613
which adds a gconf key: /desktop/gnome/remote_access/disable_xdamage
