According to http://www.oftc.net/oftc/ we should first try the default port (6667) so this one should be the first one in the XML file.
But shouldn't we use SSL actually?

They don't really say anything about not using SSL. All that they say is that 6667 is the default unencrypted port and 6697 is the encrypted one. And the rest are alternatives. That is why I listed 6697 as the first SSL port and since I was preferring SSL over plain text I listed the alternate SSL port as the second option.

Very sorry. I made a mistake. The first two lines should have had ssl="TRUE".
