Description lsof 2013-08-12 22:01:08 UTC
gthumb-3.2.3-1.fc19.x86_64

Since upgrading to Fedora 19, gthumb crashes hundreds of times a day.

It happens every time I move to or copy to a jpeg. The console shows:
 totem-video-thumbnailer couldn't open file 'file:///home/blah/blah.mov'

I have disabled the extension that allows audio and video files to be processed, so I am not sure why it is looking at a .mov file.

This is a regression, and a crasher so marking as severity major.
Comment 1 lsof 2013-08-12 22:02:52 UTC
"move to or copy to a jpeg." should read "use 'move to' or 'copy to' with a jpeg."

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
Without a stack trace from the crash it's very hard to determine what caused it.
Can you get us a stack trace? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance!

Good enough?
Comment 5 Paolo Bacchilega 2013-08-14 07:37:23 UTC
Actually no. Did you install the debug info packages? for Fedora you can use the following command:

debuginfo-install gthumb
Comment 6 lsof 2013-08-14 14:35:14 UTC
No, abrtd installed them. I'll try it manually.

Comment 8 Paolo Bacchilega 2013-08-15 16:53:40 UTC
I can reproduce the problem with Fedora 19 but not with ArchLinux
Comment 9 Paolo Bacchilega 2013-08-15 18:23:26 UTC
Actually on ArchLinux I was using the current development version that doesn't have this problem.

I've now fixed the issue for the 3.2.x series as well, this fix will be available in version 3.2.4. Thank you for the bug report.
Comment 10 lsof 2013-08-15 21:25:12 UTC
Many thanks. Have you got something I can reference so that downstream (Fedora) can get the fix too?
Comment 11 Paolo Bacchilega 2013-08-16 08:44:50 UTC
the problem was fixed with commit 8535630899875e6486556362e7ef192f3db2eb3e
