Description Nils Philippsen 2012-11-13 11:27:33 UTC
This bug was originally submitted for Fedora: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=825879

I've confirmed it still exists in 2.8.2 and the current gimp-2-8 branch.

In gimp-2.8.0-1.fc17.x86_64 when choosing File->Create->Logos->Neon (for example), the dialog that pops up doesn't have focus, so you can't simply hit enter to create, or Escape to cancel. This is unlike just about every other dialog.

Same goes for:
File->Create->Buttons, Logos, Patterns, Web Page Themes
and maybe others.

(And, btw, it doesn't matter if gimp is the new single-window mode or not.)

What desktop environment/window manager do you use?

Can you reproduce this issue if you start GIMP from the command line?

The default F17 Gnome desktop (after many years of XFCE)

Great insight there. I can't reproduce this if I start gimp from the cmdline or from the alt-f2 run dialog; it's only reproducible when gimp is run from the gnome shell menu.

Further testing let me reproduce this when attempting this again, i.e. only the first dialog window would be focused properly. Strange.

Must be some focus stealing prevention bug, moving to gnome-shell.
If GIMP has to do something to make this work, please tell us and
assign back.
Comment 2 GNOME Infrastructure Team 2021-07-05 14:07:32 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
