Description Matthias Clasen 2011-08-25 02:50:50 UTC
The control-center in 3.2 does not allow external panels anymore.
Comment 1 Matthias Clasen 2011-08-25 02:55:39 UTC
Even better might be to talk with the designers and figure out which of the options make sense to integrate in the control-center itself.

I could e.g. see adding the kerberos principal and the x509 certificate stuff finding a place in the user panel (since these are broadly about user identity).
Comment 2 Guido Günther 2011-08-25 07:29:23 UTC
The plan is to move all this form the panel into krb5-auth-dialog itself and add a menu to the list tickets dialog making it the main window. I didn't get around to work on this since several weeks though but hopefully will get this done for 3.2.

What's the right way to interact with the designers I saw some confusion about this on the lists?
Comment 3 Matthias Clasen 2011-08-25 12:51:41 UTC
Just jumping on #gnome-design in GimpNet is the best way to find the designers.

In talking to them, it really helps to have some mockups or screenshots or ideas, or bugs to present. Maybe add something to http://live.gnome.org/Design/Proposals (doesn't have to be as elaborate as the pages you see there)

Comment 7 Guido Günther 2011-09-04 18:19:21 UTC
I've added enough code so we can move the preferenes dialog from the cc to the main window (which used to be the ticket dialog) instead of having to create a standalone preferences app again.
Comment 8 Guido Günther 2011-09-05 17:09:13 UTC
The preferences are now available again from the menu.

This will need some geautification (especially the tickets dialog) and a switch
to GSettings. I'll also try to get around to talk to the designers so we can
get the principal and certificate stuff in the user panel.

I have also talked briefly to stef walter, who is adding smartcard functionality to seahorse, which may be another place to host some of this...
