So if you go to radio and:
-make a new station and leave the creator field blank
-then right click the newly created station and go to Search > By matching artist
the UI crashes hard

This is on ubuntu 10.04 using banshee from the banshee-unstable repository, currently build 1.7.3 - https://launchpad.net/~banshee-team/+archive/banshee-unstable

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
