GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 625340
amazonmp3.xml added to /usr/share/mime/packages causes conflicts
Last modified: 2010-08-04 16:10:59 UTC
The proprietary amazonmp3 tool found at http://www.amazon.com/gp/dmusic/help/amd.html installs the amazonmp3.xml file to the same path, causing conflicts. Banshee should instead name this .xml file after itself, therefore avoiding conflicts with any other package. Original bug from: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/banshee/+bug/609750
I can confirm this problem and also a workaround. Uninstalling the Amazon MP3 package permits the installation of Banshee 1.7.3 to proceed normally on Karmic.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report. The amazonmp3.xml file was renamed to banshee-amz.xml.
