GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 574662
Displaying time on gnome-screensaver password prompt
Last modified: 2009-08-21 02:19:46 UTC
The password prompt when returning to the computer should display a clock with the time, just like the login screen currently does. Somebody decided a long time ago that the login screen should display the current time. Whatever the original reasons, it is obviously convenient today. However, the same convenience should be given to the password prompt for gnome-screensaver. All the same reasons apply as for the screensaver password prompt as they do for the login screen. Originally requested at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=485169 Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gnome-screensaver-2.24.1-2.fc10.i386 Typical use cases: 1. Sometimes my screen locks while I'm taking notes in class, and I need to check the time, but I don't wear a watch, so I must log in to see the time. I should be able to just move my mouse and see the time displayed. I should not have to log in to see the clock applet. 2. I come in to work and approach my computer to log in. I see the current time and realize I have a meeting with the boss, and am not late. Now, same scenario, but I locked my computer the night before. Now, I don't see the time, and wait until I've completed the unlocking. Now I see the time and realize I have a meeting, but this time I'm late.
I think I'd prefer to have it displayed over the screensaver theme. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 499165 ***
