Description Russell Harrison 2008-12-20 21:49:18 UTC
Description of problem:
Using the random screen saver theme the Skyrocket saver comes up and is extremely loud disturbing anyone in the same building with the computer. There is no way for anyone to turn off the sound without the password to log back in. Having screen savers with sound is completely unsuitable for working environments or for people sharing a home.

How reproducible:
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select the Random theme in your screen saver prefs.
2. Go to bed, have a romantic meal, or leave your desk at work.
3. Wait to have the daylights frightened out of you when the quiet is interrupted.

Actual results:
Nightmares about "the war", wine spilled, angry coworkers.

Expected results:
Beautiful impressive screen savers are selected randomly to impress anyone walking by, without disturbing anyone enjoying the quiet.

This screensaver theme is not part of gnome-screensaver. I don't see any reason why Random should need to know any implementation details of the themes. I can't think of a good reason for any theme to make sounds.
