Description Rick Immel 2008-12-09 23:23:00 UTC
Please describe the problem:
If I burn an iso image ( CD-RW) with Brasero 0.8.2 on Ubuntu 8.10 the disk will not mount on Ubuntu 8,10. However, it will mount properly on Ubuntu 8.04. Iso image disks burned on Ubuntu 8.04 with Brasero 0.7.1 mount properly on Ubuntu 8.10.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Burn an ISO file with Brasero 0.8,2 on Ubuntu 8.10
2.
3.

Actual results:
When you try to mount the iso disk (created on Ubuntu 8.10) on Ubuntu 8.10 the following entries fill up the messages log:

[ 2192.591823] ISO 9660 Extensions: Microsoft Joliet Level 3
[ 2192.656287] ISO 9660 Extensions: RRIP_1991A
[ 2247.042382] sr 5:0:0:0: [sr0] Result: hostbyte=DID_OK driverbyte=DRIVER_SENSE,SUGGEST_OK
[ 2247.042391] sr 5:0:0:0: [sr0] Sense Key : Medium Error [current]
[ 2247.042394] sr 5:0:0:0: [sr0] Add. Sense: L-EC uncorrectable error
[ 2247.042398] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 1424600

[ 2251.874334] sr 5:0:0:0: [sr0] Result: hostbyte=DID_OK driverbyte=DRIVER_SENSE,SUGGEST_OK

[ 2251.874346] sr 5:0:0:0: [sr0] Add. Sense: L-EC uncorrectable error
[ 2251.874350] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 1424600
...
...

I assume it eventually times out because the following message pops up in a dialog box:

Unable to mount cd ...

DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

Expected results:
The ISO CD should mount when inserted in the DVD drive.

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Other information:
This happened with four new CD-RW disks that I burned on Ubuntu 8.10. The same four disk re-burned on Ubuntu 8.04 mounted properly on Ubuntu 8.10 The same cdrom drive is used on Ubuntu 8.04 and Ubuntu 8.10. The drive information is listed below.

*-cdrom
       description: DVD-RAM writer
       product: CDDVDW SH-S203B
       vendor: TSSTcorp
       physical id: 0.0.0
       bus info: scsi@5:0.0.0
       logical name: /dev/cdrom
       logical name: /dev/cdrw
       logical name: /dev/dvd
       logical name: /dev/dvdrw
       logical name: /dev/scd0
       logical name: /dev/sr0
       logical name: /media/cdrom0
       version: SB01
       capabilities: removable audio cd-r cd-rw dvd dvd-r dvd-ram
       configuration: ansiversion=5 mount.fstype=iso9660 mount.options=ro,nosuid,nodev,utf8 state=mounted status=ready

This may be a DBus problem instead of a Brasero one!! What else can I provide to help solve this problem.

I submitted this bug and I noticed some slightly different entries in the message log when I tried to mount a 5th CD-RW disk on Ubuntu 8.10 that was created on Ubuntu 8.10.

I don't think this is a Brasero problem but a problem on wodim or the cd.

Can you reproduce this problem everytime you burn a cd ? Can you attach a debug log of brasero (brasero -g) please ?
Comment 2 Rick Immel 2008-12-11 09:42:24 UTC
I originally reported this problem at launchpad.net/ubuntu. It is bug #295795. Other users have reported the same problem in the comments. This problem does occur each time I burn an ISO cd with brasero. This problem does not occur when I use the Nautilus CD/DVD creator to burn ISO cds. At the next opportunity I will burn an ISO cd with basero and attach the debug log.

brasero debug log

The is the brasero debug log requested by the developer.
Comment 4 Rick Immel 2008-12-13 08:39:30 UTC
I burned an ISO CD with brasero 0.8.2 using the -g option on Ubuntu 8.10 to generate the debug log requested by the developer. This CD failed to auto mount on Ubuntu 8.10 with same symptoms described in the original problem description. If there is anything else I can provide, please let me know.
Comment 5 Rob Connolly 2009-01-31 01:32:13 UTC
I have the same problem also using Ubuntu 8.10. Exact symptoms as described above, accross multiple disks and drives. Again burning works with Nautilus.
Comment 6 Rick Immel 2009-03-06 00:57:21 UTC
I installed brasero 0.9.1 from getdeb.net. This fixed the problem described above. I had to re-burn all CDs that were affected by this problem to allow them to mount on ubuntu 8.10.
