GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 519834
Scan & Print
Last modified: 2018-07-02 10:47:48 UTC
I often use my scanner as a photocopier to copy a sheet. It could be a nice addon to gnome-scan to permit to scan and then send image directly to the printer without user intervention/manipulation.
Hi, Nice to hear someone wanting this feature. Can you expose me the way you want the software to behave? (screenshot of existing app may be useful). I see this feature as an Action selector combo box with "Save", "Print", once you selected print, a printer selector appears right in place of the file selector, as a combo box. The dialog should also expose print option like duplex. But the key point is to reuse most of the scan settings directly into print settings like paper size, page orientation, resolution, etc. One other solution would be to launch a GtkPrint dialog, but i want to avoid dialog muliplication. I'm about to merge ScanDialog and AcquisitionDialog. Any idea is welcome. Regards, Étienne.
Yeah I think we must keep it simple. I like the way you think it, it does the job while it keeps the UI simple.
gnome-scan is not under active development anymore and has not seen code changes for seven years. Its codebase has been archived: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/gnome-scan/commits/master A possible alternative is using "simple-scan". Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is deprecated) if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
