Description Daniel Nylander 2007-08-10 10:22:49 UTC
Please add an option to display date and time in ISO 8601 format, i.e. disregard the localized format strings and use YYYY-MM-DD and HH:MM(:SS) instead

I would also like to have this option available.
This is the national standard for Canada as well as many places in the world.

Me too!!!

Is there a reason this issue can't be voted for? I'm a user in the US who prefers logical date formats like ISO-8601 & I'd like to vote for this.

Thanks much.

As I commented before in another post but covering the same issue:

Why can Uncle Bill's OS do this on any version, whether localised or native US and not (at least an easy way) in Linux?

A logical date format is what it is: Logical. Many Linux covering sites do use ISO8601 date formats (and many still don't :-( )

I really can't imagine why this should not be implemented in such a way that whatever software package is installed, the correct date format is read by calling a systemwide setting and not having to dig deep in config files.
I can't possibly choose Swedish for a language just to have a logical date setting for I do not master that language and setting it to English leaves me with no opton than a useless date sequence and two half days.

Mind you all: This is really not a flame but a sincere wish backed by many voiceless users.

Please change the status to: Confirmed...

Thanks,
Best regards,
Peter

I am also trying to solve this issue and many of my colleagues find this irritating as well. And I am using Debian Squeeze - Testing. It should not take five years to solve this?

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all
old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.

If you still use gnome-panel and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-panel/-/issues/

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
