GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 428974
[vnc]Right Click->Laptop Battery is shown on parent machine instead of vnc
Last modified: 2007-06-14 19:29:51 UTC
Please describe the problem: during using vncviewer on machine B (machine A has vncserver running), when Clicked on Laptop Battery, it shows LAPTOP Battery Information Window on Machine A (parent machie). On that Machine A I was using KDE desktop, so no Gnome-power-Manager. Steps to reproduce: 1. run vncserver on Machine 2. get VNC at other machine with Gnome-power-manager 3. Right-Click on Notification area ICON and select LAPTOP Battery Actual results: 'Laptop Battery' Message Box shown on Machine A (where vncserver running) Expected results: it should be on same machine where VNC viewer is using Does this happen every time? during VNC, everytime Other information: gnome-power-manager-2.18.1-2.fc7 vnc-4.1.2-16.fc7 RH Bugzilla: 236176
Are you sure the window comes from the KDE desktop and is not just over the top of the vnc window? What happens if you resize the vnc window - does the bubble move? I don't think this is a g-p-m bug, as it's using the standard libnotify library.
Screenhsot has only KDE desktop (LEFT and RIGHT side, nothing on TOP) and vncviewer was running on different machine with GNOME desktop If I resize VNC window, then No effect on box
Can you post a screenshot pls?

oh, sorry forgot to attach, it was with RH bug
If you do "notify-send hello" does the image also appear?
yes, both notify-sendto and Notification box appear on parent machine. something can be interesting with RH bug 240940, if we consider following bug, where there is no Notification on Parent machine (while using Gnome-power-manager either in Gnome or KDE, but with VNC I am able to see Notification on Parent machine in KDE desktop) Bug 240940: [Tray ICON] Left Click->Selecting 'Laptop Battery' Shows Nothingg (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=240940)
This isn't a gnome-power-manager bug. You probably need to work out why the libnotify message is painted on the top-level window - although this is probably by design.
