There needs to be an explicit way of creating hypertext in a GtkTextView. The ad-hoc way programs implement it now (for example, gtk-demo) is not good since Gail could not recognize the GtkTextView as a Hypertext interface.
This makes the current implementations inaccessible.

I think proper hypertext support is much better off in a derived widget.

I agree. But this derived widget should be part of the toolkit ;)

It seems gtk+ 3 doesn't have such a thing as this suggested widget.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
