GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 354349
gnome-screensaver is slower to respond than xscreensaver
Last modified: 2006-11-13 08:47:26 UTC
Please describe the problem: If my screen is locked with gnome-screensaver and I start typing my password (note: the dialog is not showing at this point), gnome-screensaver misses the first few characters. xscreensaver didn't do this. Steps to reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information: Nothing is sleeping or suspended at this point, everything is still on.
What gnome-screensaver are you running? What distribution? There was a regression in 2.14.3 related to this. It is fixed in the 2-14 branch in CVS - though no tarball have been released with it. Can you give that a try - or ask your distro to include it?
Will do: gnome-screensaver-2.14.3-3.fc5

Thanks. Here's some background: The fix: http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/gnome-screensaver/src/gs-window-x11.c?r1=1.50.2.9&r2=1.50.2.10&only_with_tag=gnome-2-14 The regression was caused by a fix for showing the dialog on the wrong window in xinerama mode. http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/gnome-screensaver/src/gs-window-x11.c?r1=1.50.2.5&r2=1.50.2.6&only_with_tag=gnome-2-14
Fixed in CVS. The fix will go into the next patch release. Thank you for your bug report.
This is still broken in FC6.
