Description Wouter Bolsterlee (uws) 2006-08-15 20:55:36 UTC
What use has the status bar? There's a status line at the top too. Having two places with status information is confusing. The statusbar has too much padding as well, causing the resize grippy to look ugly :)

that is a good reason to put the status information in the status bar, not a good reason to get rid of it and show status in a non standard way.

Agreed, status info should go into the status bar. The label at top should be removed. (Btw, Nautilus also displays total sizes in the statusbar),
Comment 3 Paolo Borelli 2006-08-16 11:03:14 UTC
I sort of agree... on the other hand it has been proved many times that the average user very rarely notices information in the statusbar and the summary at the top provides fairly important information for disk usage analizer.
Comment 4 Dennis Cranston 2006-09-09 16:26:12 UTC
A patch was committed to CVS HEAD. The status bar is disabled by default.
