GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 350923
Request Read Receipt doesn't work
Last modified: 2008-11-03 21:35:19 UTC
Forwarding this bug from downstream. Confirmed that it still exists in Evolution 2.7.91. http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=201518 Description of problem: Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): evolution-2.7.4-4 How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Launch Mail-Evolution and create a new Mail Message 2. Compose the new message and select Insert -> Request Read Receipt 3. Send the new message Actual results: Receive and check the new message in Inbox folder, it just like a normal message, no "Request Read Receipt" Expected results: Additional info:
I can confirm this bug with the Ubuntu package in 6.06. The used version is Evolution 2.6.1
evo2.9.3: sending an email to another account of mine, the sent source displays the header line "Disposition-Notification-To: sender@example.com" matthew, so is this fixed nowadays?
I see that header too. I'm actually not sure what the expected behavior is. I'll check on this.
Bumping version to a stable release.
If i remember right. To enable Read Receipts we need to follow this slightly un-intuitive process: * Open Evolution Preferences Dialog (Edit->Preferences) * Click on the 'Edit' Button for the account you wish to enable 'Read Receipt' - opens the 'Account Editor' dialog * Click on the 'Defaults' tab. * The last section in the 'Defaults' tab is "Message Receipts" which gives us 3 options. By default its Never. We need change it to "Ask for Each Message" to actually make Evolution request for the read-receipt. [ Try testing it now ] I would actually file a UI bug to fix this. Read Receipts as a 'feature' does work. [am using 2.22.2 on ubuntu]
quite surprisingly - i didnt find a mention of this in the documentation too.
This seems to be working fine for me in Evolution 2.24.1, so I'm closing the bug as OBSOLETE since no actions were taken specifically for this bug.
