GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 345233
Right click on the top of window should ask for "Take a screenshot of this window"
Last modified: 2020-11-07 12:35:57 UTC
When you right-click on the top of window, there is a menu that ask for minimize, maximize ... I think it could be a good feature to add a window's screenshot entry.
you do know that pressing Alt + Print Screen you can achieve the same effect, right? anyway, the menu is controlled by the window manager. changing product and marking as a RFE.

I like this idea.
One minor concern would be that the menu is already fairly long (well, actually, more 'wordy' than long) for a context menu... but I agree that it could be quite a useful addition. FWIW, I'd probably suggest putting it just above "Close", with a separator below. Would also need to consider where else to add the menu item, though-- at a minimum, I guess you'd also want it in the equivalent menu in the window list applet, which is currently identical. Then you also have to start wondering if it would appear inconsistent to add this option to a window's context menu, but not to the desktop's context menu... or even to a panel's context menu, although there's usually less need to to take screenshots of just the panel...
bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years. If you still use metacity and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/metacity/-/issues/ Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
