GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 339393
html signature inserted as html source code into composer
Last modified: 2014-12-02 01:07:00 UTC
Distribution: Ubuntu 5.10 (breezy) Package: Evolution Severity: Normal Version: GNOME2.12.1 unspecified Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu Synopsis: html signature inserted as html source code into composer Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Mailer Bugzilla-Version: unspecified Description: Description of Problem: After some time, an HTML signature that previously worked correctly gets inserted as html source code rather than appearing as formatted text. It does not matter whether one is in Plain text or HTML format mode (in compose window). Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Create an HTML signature via Preferences -> Composer Preferences -> Signatures. I used "Insert HTML file", not sure if this makes a difference. 2. Insert into HTML or plain text mail in composer window using signatures drop down 3. Actual Results: After some time, the code gets inserted instead of the formatted text/graphics. Expected Results: That the html signature would continue to work as expected. How often does this happen? Always, but only after some time (a day or two). have also seen this once so far, confirming.

Bumping version to a stable release.
Since version 3.6, Evolution uses WebKit instead of GtkHtml for displaying messages. (And for completeness, Evolution 3.14 is planned to use WebKit also for composing and editing messages so GtkHtml will not receive any fixes anymore.) Hence I am closing this GtkHtml rendering bug report. We are sorry that your request was not handled in time when it was reported but unfortunately manpower is very limited (and does not allow testing every single reported issue separately again either). Please feel free to reopen this report (and move it to the "Evolution" product and the "Mail" component) if the problem described in this bug report still happens in a recent supported Evolution version which uses WebKit (the current stable Evolution version is 3.12).
