Description pavel 2006-03-05 11:03:52 UTC
you could move it into ~/.config/ for instance.
I think that changing Templates is not such a frequent action that it should
have a permanently visble directory in $HOME.
It is also quite annoying if you use desktop_is_home_dir, so you will have
Templates on your Desktop...

I'd call that a feature, not a bug! Templates are very under-appreciated...
Comment 2 FIRAT KUCUK 2006-04-18 11:26:12 UTC
i think directory should be renamable via gconf. And default name should be hidden.
Comment 3 Reinout van Schouwen 2006-04-18 11:37:57 UTC
If anything, the Templates feature should be made _more_ discoverable, not less (by hiding it)!
Comment 4 FIRAT KUCUK 2006-04-18 14:51:30 UTC
Maybe a right click item can do this. Right Click > Create Document

Create Empty Document
--------------------
Edit Templates

Templates Directory default location should be editable via gconf.
And some default templates should be add.

but there is no sense in advertising it at any cost - it should be only displayed when it makes sense.
And I dont that this applies to a user browsing his files. A more appropriate place would be, like Firat suggested, the context dialog when the user wants to create a new file.

You can move the templates directory to another location using http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/xdg-user-dirs/. And the desktop_is_home_dir setting is gone now.
