Description Miguel Angel 2005-05-15 17:59:42 UTC
If you write some text in a DIA file with symbols: "áéíóúÁÉÍÓÚñÑ" at least, they
don't appear at the exported metapost file.

The correct translations may be:
   \'{a} for á
   \'{Á} for Á
   ...
   \~n for ñ
   \~N for Ñ

If you write the LaTeX command (like \'{a}), it works perfectly, but if you
export it to other format, the format "\'{a}" is showed.

Thank you very much.

I'm guessing this goes for other characters too (like æåêï etc). It'd be easy
to have a translation in the metapost output plugin that matches these
characters and replace them with the translations, if we can just get the
correct set of translations.
Comment 2 Radek Krahl 2005-05-20 19:18:01 UTC
Just my thought:

Aren't commands (\'{a} etc.) described by Miguel specific for LaTeX only? If
they are, won't implementing them in metapost export broke exported files for
some people that are not using LaTeX?

I'm 90% sure, that these commands are implemented in LaTeX only.
Comment 3 Hans Breuer 2005-06-10 16:36:58 UTC
Maybe we should just provide the capability to use a user modifiable
translation map. It coud be as simple as having one utf8 character
a space and the tex replacment on every line. Something like

á \'{a}
Á \'{A}
ñ \~n
Ñ \~N

[But I even haven't to get a tex installation capable to
show any Dia graphic, so don't wait on me :-]
