Description ajax at nwnk dot net 2005-03-22 06:01:42 UTC
Distribution/Version: Gentoo

Metacity 2.8.6 falls over a lot under Xephyr. Verbose log file follows. This
one was generated with just Xephyr and xlogo.

Comment 2 Elijah Newren 2005-03-22 06:19:39 UTC
Probably related to, if not a duplicate of, bug 169684.
Comment 3 Erika Ahlswede 2005-03-22 07:36:04 UTC
I'm not so certain. #169684 never showed up in 2.8.x at all-- and it's
reproducible enough that I'd have noticed it there.
Comment 4 Havoc Pennington 2005-03-23 16:01:33 UTC
Does the backtrace change if using METACITY_SYNC=1 ?
(so we call XSynchronize())
Comment 5 ajax at nwnk dot net 2005-03-23 17:22:03 UTC
that log was generated with

METACITY_VERBOSE=1 METACITY_USE_LOGFILE=1 METACITY_SYNC=1 DISPLAY=:1 metacity &

if you'd like to see it unsynced i can do that too.
Comment 6 Havoc Pennington 2005-03-23 21:35:39 UTC
Nope, unsynced is useless, thanks.

Unfortunately synced is probably pretty useless here too... X has the errno
problem (hp's law of errno: "if you have only error codes with no error
messages, the error codes will get overloaded and become meaningless and unhelpful")

So, deeper poking to see what is being drawn to what with which gc is required,
and then figure out what part of that causes badmatch.
Comment 7 Thomas Thurman 2009-01-26 07:58:21 UTC
Metacity does not fall over under Xephyr for me. Reporter, are you still having this problem with a modern version of Metacity?
