GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 163198
Text insert cursor is one line below where Mouse pointer is actually clicked
Last modified: 2005-01-13 04:21:58 UTC
When inserting/modifying text in a cell, the insert cursor, and hence where the text is actually inserted/modified, is one line below where the mouse pointer was actually left-clicked.
Please give a more detailed example.
This only occurs with the default text alignment, which is "bottom". Enter 1 or more lines of text into the cell. The go back to this cell, and double left-click on the cell to bring up the data entry cursor. Left-click to position data-entry cursor on text. The cursor will appear, and data will be entered/deleted, 1 line below where you left-clicked. I.e. if there are two lines of text, clicking on the first line will cause the data to be entered on the second line. If you click on the second line, no data can be entered. If cell text alignment is changed to center or top, the problem does not occur.

Now I see. It works fine for me if I follow your instructions, but I see the problem if I increase the height of the row so that there is the equivalent of several rows empty space on the top. The clicks work as if the text is alligned at the top, so if I click relatively low in the cell, the click has no effect at all.
Fixed in CVS. Patch will be in 1.4.2.
