Description vjl 2003-01-21 20:10:39 UTC
Using pico v4.50, gnome-terminal, v2.0.1 and less version 376, I'm unable
to copy/paste into pico from less and have the pasted text maintain its
linebreaks.

Eg: If I view a file in less that looks like this:

hello world.
hello vjl.
how are you today?
i am fine, thanks.

When I paste it into pico [running with the options: -x, -z, -w [-w turns
off wordwrap], i get a file that looks like this:

hello world. hello vjl. how are you today? i am fine, thanks.

I'm new to emacs, but when running emacs -nw, and attempting to paste the
less-displayed file into emacs, I get put into debugging mode [?]. I was
hoping this problem was related to bug 101761, but when trying to reproduce
that bug, I get put into the same 'backtrace'/'debugger' mode after pasting.

I'm running gnome as my wm and can copy/paste fine with konsole v1.1.3 [i
have kde 3.0.5a installed, but i stay in gnome all the time and just use a
handful of kde apps].

What terminal widget does mandrake 9 use?

"ldd /usr/bin/gnome-terminal" and see if it links to libzvt or vte.
If libzvt, this bug should be reassigned to libzvt product.
If vte, reassigned there.
Comment 2 vjl 2003-01-21 20:43:02 UTC
It uses libzvt, so I'm reassigning this to the libzvt group.

Output of ldd, w/ libzvt grep'd, follows:

libzvt-2.0.so.0 => /usr/lib/libzvt-2.0.so.0 (0x40024000)

Thanks,

Closing libzvt bugs since it's not actively maintained or used by anything in
the desktop these days. If you still have similar problems as the one filed here
with recent versions of gnome-terminal, please report it against vte, the new
terminal widget.
