Description Matt Joras 2008-05-11 22:42:59 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Epiphany with webkit (not sure about gecko) does not remember passwords when the "remember passwords" option is enabled.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Navigate to any site with a login
2. Login
3. Quit epiphany
4. Launch it again, navigate to the site, and you must login again.

Actual results:
You have to login again, epiphany doesn't remember the password or the username.

Expected results:
Epiphany to remember the password.

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Which back-end are you using? Which version?
Have you pressed the Remember button when Epiphany asked whether to remember the password?
Comment 2 Matt Joras 2008-05-13 00:12:09 UTC
I am using the WebKit backend, I'm not sure what you mean by what version, what version of WebKit? I build it from the git. And Epipahny never asks me to remember the password when I enter one.

-> Backend:WebKit
Comment 4 Xan Lopez 2009-02-27 13:32:40 UTC
We have persistent cookies now, so sites with auto-login will log you in as usual, which I think is what this bug was about. Closing as FIXED.
Comment 5 Benjamin Berg 2009-02-27 13:47:50 UTC
Hm, isn't this bug about the password forms that get filled in automatically?
Comment 6 Martin Sourada 2009-02-27 17:24:50 UTC
Well, the initial report is bit unclear about that. To me it seems like its both missing persistent coockies and username/password saving. For the later, I believe this webkit commit might be relevant:

Comment 7 Xan Lopez 2009-02-27 18:19:35 UTC
Well, the reporter said "you have to log in again", which implies that he expected epiphany to log-in for him. That's solved with cookies, because neither HTTP auth (which is now in) neither form auto-filling (which is not yet done) will log-in for you.
Comment 8 Xan Lopez 2009-02-27 18:21:09 UTC
Well, HTTP auth *will* log-in for you, but only in the same session, and the reporter was talking of quitting and launching epiphany.
Comment 9 Benjamin Berg 2009-02-27 18:44:42 UTC
Sure. I just interpreted the bug differently by reading the introduction. I have no problem with leaving this closed (but still want password saving ;-))

"Epiphany with webkit (not sure about gecko) does not remember passwords when
the "remember passwords" option is enabled."
Comment 10 David Hedlund 2016-06-15 21:57:04 UTC
Epiphany 3.10.3 do not remember logins (usernames / passwords) for me in a fresh profile.

Can anyone please re-open this bug?
Comment 11 David Hedlund 2016-06-15 22:01:02 UTC
I was wrong, this was a site specific bug, not related to Epiphany. Sorry.
